more stars in education. let's invest in our teachers... ...so they can inspire our students. let's solve this. >>> one week from tonight we may know who the next president will be. hurricane sandy has presented a unique challenge for the campaigns just one week from the the election. president obama cancelled campaign events in order to monitor recovery efforts. in an e-mail to supporters, his campaign manager asked for donations not for the the campaign, but for the american red cross stating soon enough we'll get back to work on the most campaign of our lifetime. but the most important thing at this moment is you and your loved ones are safe and the rest of us do what we can to speed the recovery. the romney campaign, on the other hand, found themselves struggling to find the right tone. in an effort to seem insensitive to the millions of americans affected by the storm, the romney camp cancelled appearances on monday and tuesday but rebranded others as storm relief events. senator john mccain spoke on behalf of governor romney and apparently missed the memo about putting politic

teacher education. let's build a strong foundation. let's invest in our teachers so they can inspire our students. let's solve this. >>> thanks for staying with us as we continue our live coverage of sandy. the eye of the storm is just making its way on to land near atlantic city, new jersey. we're expecting high tide about 8:20 tonight, which is about four minutes away. we're getting word of new york's first storm-related fatality. a 30-year-old man trapped by a fallen tree in queens. we're also getting some amazing pictures showing some serious flooding from delaware to new jersey. some of the streets of atlantic city are covered in water. this video was taken before sandy made landfall. we know many of these streets were closed ahead of the storm, but new jersey governor chris christie is criticizing the mayor of atlantic city for failing to get enough people to evacuate. >> for whatever reason, the mayor urged people to stay in shelters in the city. despite by admonition to evacuate, he gave them comfort for some reason to stay. we now have a large number of people that are in atlant
